With 29 years of experience in the programming, planning, and design of public assembly facilities, Ken has become a recognized expert in this discipline. He has been invited to speak at the International Association of Venue Managers’ International Convention Center Conference numerous times and has published articles in Facility Manager, Auditoria, and Revitalization magazines. While with another firm, Ken was involved in over 30 of its convention center design commissions, including work at four of the five largest facilities in North America, three winners of the national AIA Honor Award, and two Urban Land Institute Award of Excellence winners. Ken led the majority of the studies and consultations on public assembly projects for the firm, over 30 total engagements. These included support to the work of market feasibility consultants, expansion master plans, and peer reviews.

Ken maintains contact with a broad network of facility operators, meeting planners, show decorators and specialty speakers through his ongoing involvement in the convention and meetings industry. He has worked with all the major market feasibility consultants.

In the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Ken was a member of the IAVM Mega-Shelter Task Force formed to develop a best practices document for facility managers faced with the task of acting as emergency shelters. He also participated in the interactions of the Task Force with the American Red Cross and the Department of Homeland Security in modifying policies and procedures for mega-shelters. As a result of this participation, Ken was invited by the Red Cross to participate in revisions to their shelter guideline documents.
