AIA Georgia Membership Elects 2012 Board of Directors
Atlanta, October 24, 2011 - AIA Georgia, an association of The American Institute of Architects, announces it 2012 board appointments effective January 1, 2012.
President
Roy L. Abernathy AIA, CEO and Managing Principal of Jova Daniels Busby, will become President. Roy was the recipient of the National Young Architects Award in 2007 and is a Richard Upjohn Fellow. He has previously served on the AIA Atlanta and AIA Georgia boards.
Past President
Edward A. Bernard AIA, SE Regional Manager and Vice President at Marx|Okubo Associates, Inc. assumes the role of Immediate Past President of the Association, where he will assume responsibility for the 2012 honors and awards program and nominations for 2013 leadership
President-elect
Janice N. Wittschiebe AIA, NCIDQ, LEED AP, Partner at Richard Wittschiebe Hand, has been elected AIA Georgia President-Elect. Janice has previously served on the AIA Georgia board, most recently as Treasurer.
Treasurer
Christopher T. Welty, Associate AIA, is an Assistant Professor at Southern Polytechnic State University, where he has been teaching at the College of Architecture for the past six years. Chris also has his own multimedia design firm, weltyworld, founded in 2000.
Secretary
Franklyn R. D’Arcangelo, AIA, LEED AP, is a junior partner with Martin Rule & Associates Architects in Statesboro, GA. Frank has previously served on the AIA Georgia Board of Directors, in addition to serving as chair of the AIA Georgia Annual Design Conference and Awards program.
Director
Tim Black, AIA, is a senior project manager with CDH Partners in Atlanta. He will serve as a 2012-2013 Director.

David Green, AIA, LEED AP, is a principal with Perkins + Will. David received the AIA Atlanta Silver Medal in 2003 for his work with a firm he founded and AIA Georgia Bronze Medal in 2009 for his work in community planning. He has served on the AIA Atlanta Board of Directors. He will serve as a 2012-2013 Director.

Allen Kenna Stewart, AIA, is the Georgia Intern Development Program Coordinator and has previously served on the AIA Northeast Section Board of Directors. He will serve as a 2012-2013 Director.
Continuing Director
Robert T. Buscemi AIA, LEED AP, is with the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission, where he has been a champion for good design. He is serving as a 2011-2012 Director.
Continuing Director
Leslie Gage Ellsworth, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP is a frequent speaker on issues related to indoor air quality and the built environment. She is serving as a 2011-2012 Director.
Continuing Director
Richard B. Hinman, Jr. AIA, President and CEO of Studio 3 Design Group in Augusta, GA has previously served on the AIA Georgia Board and has chaired the Design Awards program. He is serving as a 2011-2012 Director.
Continuing Director
Mark Levine, AIA, LEED AP, Business Development Manager at BRPH, has previously served as AIA Georgia Design Conference Chair and currently chairs the host committee for the 2012 South Atlantic Region Conference in Atlanta. He is serving as 2011-2012 Director.
